- Referral route
- A housing options officer or a public body under the Duty to Refer, section 213B Housing Act 1996, makes the referral. Discharging the Duty to Refer is not the same as securing accommodation, so a parallel provider referral is often needed.
- Eligibility
- A council owes duties under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 where an applicant is eligible and homeless or threatened with homelessness within 56 days. Supported accommodation can be used at prevention, relief and main duty stages.
