See how much Universal Credit you could get each month, including help with rent, the health amount (LCWRA), children and how your wages affect it. One question at a time, about 3 minutes.

This is an estimate, not advice. Rates for 2026/27, last checked 12 October 2026.

Question 1 of 11

Who would you live with?

Your household for Universal Credit: you, and a partner if you live together.

This is an estimate, not advice. It uses the official 2026/27 rates from GOV.UK and the Valuation Office Agency, last checked 12 October 2026. What you actually get is decided by DWP or your council, and can depend on things we don't ask about.

Questions people ask

This is an estimate, not advice. We use the official 2026/27 rates published on GOV.UK, including the Local Housing Allowance rates, last checked 12 October 2026, and match postcodes to rental areas with the Valuation Office Agency's LHA-Direct. Your real award is decided by DWP (Universal Credit, PIP, ESA, Carer's Allowance) or your council (Housing Benefit). If something can't be worked out from your answers, we say so rather than guess.

£338.58 a month if you're single and under 25, £424.90 if you're single and 25 or over, £528.34 for a couple who are both under 25, and £666.97 for a couple where either of you is 25 or over.

For every £1 you take home, Universal Credit goes down by 55p. If you have children, or a health condition that limits your work, you can first earn a work allowance: £427 a month if you get help with housing costs through Universal Credit, or £710 if you don't.

From 6 April 2026 there are two rates. £429.80 a month if you told DWP about your health condition before 6 April 2026 (or already had LCWRA), have a severe, lifelong condition, or are nearing the end of life. £217.26 a month if you declared your condition on or after 6 April 2026 and it isn't severe and lifelong.

Yes. GOV.UK says the 2-child limit ended on 6 April 2026, so Universal Credit now pays the child amount of £303.94 a month for every child. The benefit cap still applies.

Savings up to £6,000 don't affect Universal Credit. Between £6,000 and £16,000, £4.35 a month is taken off for every £250 (or part of £250). Over £16,000 you can't usually get Universal Credit.

A limit on the total benefits most working-age households get. Outside Greater London it's £1,229.42 a month for a single adult and £1,835 for a couple or single parent; in Greater London £1,413.92 and £2,110.25. It doesn't apply if you get the LCWRA health amount or the carer amount, earn £881 or more a month between you, or you, your partner or a child gets PIP, DLA, Attendance Allowance or Carer's Allowance.
